电视剧《杂技皇后夏菊花》于2007年7月开拍，同年9月初摄制完成。作为我国第一部反映杂技艺术家人生的电视剧，《杂技皇后夏菊花》从童年、青年、中年三个阶段讲述了我国著名杂技表演艺术家、中国文联副主席、中国杂协主席夏菊花极富传奇色彩的艺术人生经历。。该剧讲述年轻男女的爱情，特别是“性政治”（男权和女权之争）。Zooey Deschanel（Emily Deschanel的妹妹）在剧中扮演生性乐观的小学教师Jessica，但她的爱情总是一团糟。在和男友分手之后，她与三名性格幼稚的男子住到一起：爱喝酒的大块头Schmidt（Max Greenfield），整天穿运动裤的体型教练Coach（Damon Wayans Jr.）和酒吧男招待Nick（Jake M.
